Logistics Coordinator
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Logistics Coordinator provides logistical support for our summer programs (5 two-week expeditions). This includes:
- Packing gear: tents, backpacks, stoves, sleeping bags, pots & pans, etc.
- Packing food: lots and lots of food!
- Assisting with transportation (shuttling the bus, driving a re-supply, picking up the van, etc.)
- Issuing gear loans to girls and instructors (keeping track of what goes out / comes in)
- Facilitating course starts & graduations at the Women’s Building: registration, errands, etc.
- Leading / delegating to volunteer “fairies” and Assistant Instructors help with logistics.
- Facilitating course end clean-up with girls and instructors in the field
- Washing laundry
- General gear care & maintenance: cleaning, repairing, replacing gear as necessary
- Taking initiative to improve on systems in place for logistics and gear room.
- Inventorying all gear at the end of the summer gear: offering recommendations
- Communicating with supervisor & coworkers: including check-ins & self evaluations.
Our ideal candidate will have a flexible approach to work hours/schedule understanding that the gear and food has got to get done before a course can leave. This means:
- Working some long days in the office packing up food and gear
- Working many weekend days for course starts and finishes
- Working several long days in the field doing course re-supplies: with some possible overnights
Requirements:
- Experience with and an interest in logistics and food packing for outdoor programs
- Minimum age: 21 with valid drivers license
- Knowledge and experience in using and maintaining backpacking gear, tents, stoves, etc.
- Familiarity with backcountry cuisine
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience and appreciation of working collaboratively with others
- Wilderness First Aid (or WFR) certified a plus
- A passion for working with empowering girls and women.

Position Dates
Full-time: May 19 – Sept 19, 2008 (Required In-field Staff Training: May 29-June 3)

Salary: $1800-2000 monthy (four month position)
