Creative CornerThis short story was written and performed by a recent Project Courage graduate at her course Graduation Ceremony in 2007.
My name is Emma and I participated on the Project Courage course. On this course, we did activities, played games, and accomplished feats. But this trip made us think about the deeper things in life.
We went through group problems, dreaded homesickness, and achy feet. This taught us how much we needed to open our eyes to the good memories, examples, and gifts that we have. A lot of us changed, emotionally mostly, but our newfound strength radiated throughout our personal being. Food nourished us twice as much, and compliments ten times more. We lost some things attached to ourselves just like unneeded and unfortunate tissue, and some were stretched away like a rubber band only to be snapped back and cling on more tightly.
This experience cleaned the wax out of our ears, and the dust off our eyes, overall giving us a unique and unforgettable insight on life.
