What is an Assistant Instructor?
Assistant Instructors are a component of our Leadership Development Program. This unique position enables alumnae to gain valuable team-building skills, leadership skills and wilderness safety training while working for a diverse, experiential education nonprofit. All GirlVentures programs, both School-Year Programs and Summer Outdoor Adventure Programs, have an alumnae Assistant Instructor. This is a paid position.

Who Can Apply?
We are looking for strong leaders and girls who will be positive role models for adolescent girls.The ideal applicant:

  • Is interested in outdoor adventure activities (camping, sea kayaking or rock climbing)
  • Wants to empower adolescent girls and be a role model
  • Desires to learn about instructing wilderness trips, wilderness safety, and leadership skills
  • Is entering their Junior or Senior year of high School (age 16 - 20)
  • Has completed Project Courage or Transitions

When Do I Apply?
Summer Assistant Instructors typically apply by the end of February. Early applications are encouraged.
Girls of color are encouraged to apply.
