Project CourageAt GirlVentures, we encourage physical and creative risk-taking in a safe and supportive environment

Through our single gender programs we explore self, community, culture, and the environment through outdoor adventure, creative arts, and group experiences.  All of our programs provide our girls with opportunities to:

  • Experience physical success
  • Express creativity
  • Celebrate girls' diverse identities
  • Practice group decision making and problem solving
  • Develop community responsibility
  • Engage in healthy conflict resolution
  • Cultivate a sense of appreciation and stewardship for nature and the environment.

GirlVentures Programs

  • Summer Outdoor Adventure Programs
For girls who love adventure, Project Courage (grades 7-8) and Transitions (grade 9) provide a two-week journey of self-discovery and fun through activities such as backpacking, rock climbing, sea kayaking, and creative expressive activities.
  • School-Year Programs
GirlVentures offers girls activities during the school year that build upon the themes of Project Courage and Transitions. We provide a variety of programming including a rock climbing and mentorship program, self-defense courses, and yoga. These programs are open to all girls, including alumnae and those new to the GirlVentures community.
  • Leadership Development Program
GirlVentures offers a ladder of opportunity for our alumnae through meaningful leadership experiences, such as Assistant Instructor positions and a voice in the growth of the organization as members of our Girls Advisory Board. Our Leadership Development Program is enhancing the leadership skills of our alumnae girls, deepening our pool of potential instructors for the future, and changing the face of the outdoor education industry.
  • Community Courses
GirlVentures custom designs retreats and workshops for schools, groups, teams, and other Bay Area organizations. It is our goal to create access for Bay Area girls to experiential education and to create meaningful partnerships with other youth serving community organizations and schools. We specialize in using outdoor experiences - camping, art in nature, expedition-style travel, rock climbing, and sea kayaking - to create unique challenges and healthy risk-taking that bring out the strengths of individuals and groups.
