Self-Defense
Being an adolescent girl in today’s world can be quite difficult. Our Self-Defense course teaches girls to set healthy boundaries, respond to peer pressure, and protect themselves in a variety of situations. We teach techniques designed to empower girls to defend themselves physically, emotionally, and mentally. Our curriculum encourages girls to cultivate confidence, awareness, assertive communication, conflict resolution abilities, and healthy decision-making skills. Through voice exercises and situational role plays, girls will learn to diffuse potentially difficult or dangerous situations before they become threatening. Participants will learn a range of self-defense techniques, including hitting and kicking, that allow them to interrupt an attack long enough to get to safety. Girls will practice these physical techniques on a padded mock-attacker for one day of the class. This is both an emotionally and physically challenging class, but one which is taught in a safe environment by an instructor team dedicated to supporting young women and their growth.
We offer a 12-hour Self-Defense course during the school year over four consecutive weekends, and a 15-hour Self-Defense course for one week during the summer.
