For the last six years, the GirlVentures’ Hike for Girls has been hosted by our Girls Advisory Board. The Girls Advisory Board is a group of high-school age alumnae who are leading change in their communities, and who host this annual event to raise scholarship funds for our courses. At least two-thirds of the girls we serve come from low-to-middle income families, and your support is crucial to ensuring access to our programs and the transformative power of the outdoors.
Bring the whole family (even the dog) to the event, where there will be breakfast, snacks, a prize drawing, and lots of fun.
Your donations and registration fees directly support scholarship opportunities for our outdoor adventure and leadership programs, inspiring girls to discover their strengths and take action in their communities.

Registration and breakfast starts at 9:30am, and we will be hiking at 10am. The hike is approximately 3.2 miles, with minor elevation changes. Weather for Saturday is predicted to be 65 degrees and partly sunny, so please bring layers, hats, and sunscreen.
Please see below for detailed driving instructions for getting to Orchard Picnic Area in Tilden Park, located near the Tilden Merry-go-round. We will have parking attendants to direct traffic at the site. Our event will be located in the Orchard Picnic Area, and parking will be available near the Merry-go-round.
Day of Event Details:
Registration for the Hike via Eventbrite will close at 5pm on Friday, but tickets can still be purchased for $30 adult/$15 youth at registration on the morning of the Hike. Prize drawing tickets are $5, and any additional donations to our scholarship fund will also be gratefully accepted.
All transactions on the day of the hike are cash only.
Cell service in Tilden Park is poor, so please plan accordingly. We will be hiking with first aid kits and satellite phones in case of emergency.
What to Bring:
Printed driving directions (cell reception is spotty near and in the park!)
Shoes with good tread
Layers for variable weather

Directions to GirlVentures Hike for Girls
The Hike starts at Orchard Picnic Area in Tilden Regional Park.
From Highway 24, take the Fish Ranch Road exit. Up Fish Ranch Road, right on Grizzly Peak Blvd, right on S. Park Drive, then left on Wildcat Canyon Road. Continue for 0.9 miles, then veer right on Central Park Drive. Continue 0.3 miles; turn right onto Lake Anza Road, then left onto Brook Road, Orchard will be on your right.
From Interstate 80, take the Buchanan Street exit. Continue east along Buchanan Street, in 0.4 miles veer right, Buchanan becomes Marin Avenue. At the traffic circle turn onto Los Angeles Avenue, heading uphill. Left on Spruce Street. At the top of Spruce, continue straight across the Grizzly Peak Blvd intersection, then make an immediate left onto Canon Drive. Continue to the bottom of Canon, turn right onto Central Park Drive. Continue 0.7 miles; turn left onto Lake Anza Road, then left onto Brook Road, Orchard will be on your right.

Take the AC transit #67 bus from Downtown Berkeley BART (Allston Way at
Shattuck Ave) to Lake Anza/Merry-Go- Round Bust Stop
