Rising Together is designed specifically for youth of color in 9th thru 12th grades to safely and collectively experience the healing capacity of the outdoors. The group will engage in a 4-day camping, rock climbing and hiking expedition in Castle Rock State Park.
Students explore concepts such as trust, social justice, identity, and leadership through activities designed for their age group. Climbing provides the format and structure through which young people can develop the physical, emotional, and social tools that help them be successful on this course and also with their families, schools and other groups.
Youth will sleep in 4 person tents each night, and take turns cooking nutritious meals for each other. All this while learning the importance of Leave No Trace Ethics, and the connection between the natural world and people. Students will take on different leadership roles each day and guide the daily activities for their peers, with instructor support.

To ensure that all girls have the opportunity to participate in our programs, we offer sliding scale tuition. Once a participant is accepted for a specific course, they and their family will self-select their household income range, tuition amount, and preferred payment plan. We do not require proof of income. We ask that families pay an amount within the recommended sliding scale for their income bracket, at minimum. Selected tuition may be paid in up to four monthly installments. As a non-profit, GirlVentures subsidizes the tuition of all participants.
