Transitions

2017 TR 1.jpg

Transitions is for girls and gender non-conforming youth entering 9th grade. This course is a 14-day backpacking, climbing and repelling expedition in the Courtright Reservoir area of the Sierra National Forest and John Muir Wilderness northwest of Kings Canyon National Park. All gear, food, and transportation is provided and no prior experience is necessary.

Transitions serves as great next step after the Project Courage course or is a great first step for a student wanting a longer course experience.  The course is named Transitions because it is meant to honor the transition between middle school and high school and serve as a right of passage into the next stage of adolescence.

Program Cost

To ensure that all girls have the opportunity to participate in our programs, we offer sliding scale tuition. Once a participant is accepted for a specific course, they and their family will self-select their household income range, tuition amount, and preferred payment plan. We do not require proof of income. We ask that families pay an amount within the recommended sliding scale for their income bracket, at minimum. Selected tuition may be paid in up to four monthly installments. As a non-profit, GirlVentures subsidizes the tuition of all participants.
